A Message from Elementary School Principal Beth Genchur
Hello Homer-Center Families, Students, and Community Members,
As summer begins to wind down, the excitement of a new school year starts to build. Soon our hallways will once again be filled with smiling faces, eager learners, and the energy that makes Homer-Center Elementary such a special place. I am excited to welcome everyone to the 2026–2027 school year!
Each school year brings with it a sense of possibility. For some students, this year will mark their first day of kindergarten. For others, it will be their final year at the elementary before moving on to the Junior/Senior High School. No matter where students are in their educational journey, each child will have opportunities to learn new skills, develop friendships, overcome challenges, and discover more about themselves.
At Homer-Center Elementary, our growth extends beyond academics. While we are committed to helping students achieve their fullest potential in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies, we are equally committed to helping them grow into kind, responsible, and confident individuals. Through our ROAR expectations—Responsibility, Ownership, Attitude, and Respect—we strive to create a positive school culture where students feel safe, valued, and empowered to do their best each day. Complementing this work is our PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) curriculum, which helps students develop important social-emotional skills such as emotional awareness, self-control, problem-solving, empathy, and healthy relationship-building. Together, ROAR and PATHS provide students with the tools they need to be successful learners, positive classmates, and responsible members of our school community.
We will continue to provide students with opportunities for support and enrichment through our What I Need (WIN) block and school-wide Title I program. These structures allow us to meet the unique needs of learners while helping every student continue to grow. Combined with the support of our counseling services and dedicated staff, these efforts help ensure that students are equipped with the academic and personal skills necessary to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
One of the greatest strengths of Homer-Center Elementary is the partnership we share with our families and community. Your support, encouragement, and involvement help make our school a place where students can thrive. Whether through attending events, volunteering, participating in conferences, joining the PTA, or simply encouraging your child each day, you play an important role in their success.
As we begin this new school year, I am filled with optimism for what lies ahead. Together, we will celebrate accomplishments, learn from challenges, and continue building a school community where every child feels a sense of belonging and purpose.
Thank you for entrusting us with your children each day. We are excited to welcome our Wildcats back and look forward to a fantastic year together.
